We kicked off our 2016 show season with a fabulous positional clinic today.
We welcomed back a familiar face to Grey Fern Park- affiliated show judge and level 3 international coach Mel Tomlinson (BHS Register of Instructors)
Mel, who has trained horses to medium level has expertise in helping riders to overcome competition nerves and solve ridden problems through positional analysis.
The clinic consisted of a 40 minute class based lecture and workshop which included the use of a special simulator so that Mel could get a good insight into each participants natural position, balance and posture. It also provided some entertaining scenes! An excellent opportunity to really evaluate your position and potential bad habits in a safe and controlled environment.
Following the workshop, our participants tacked up and prepared to enter a 1 hour flatwork session with Mel. Here, Mel was able to work with the group as a whole and spend time focusing with each rider individually to help solve ridden problems through positional analysis in both flatwork and/or showjumping.
We had many lovely comments from riders who took part in today's clinic and thank you to Mel for providing such an interesting day for all involved. Everyone enjoyed it so much that we are going to hold another positional clinic on 13th March which has just been added to our schedule!
